
Do you love boating but don't have a boat?
The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary - Pacific (CCGA-P) includes over 1000 volunteers throughout British Columbia who offer their time and commitment to actively provide search and rescue (SAR) services. These volunteers participate in resolving nearly one third of the SAR incidents that occur on the BC coast, either as the principal resource, or as an additional response unit. Their area includes more than 29,500 square kilometers of coastline, 6,500 islands, and approximately 450,000 square kilometers of internal and offshore waters.

We’ve just been notified that the rescue surfer was in fact two surfers who assisted the boater from the mission at Jordan River yesterday afternoon.
None other than off duty Coast Guard member Thomas Kerr and Shirley VFD chief Donovan Ray. Kudos to both.

At approximately 3:30pm, Sunday Nov. 27th, 2011, Canadian Coast Guard Aux. Unit #37 was tasked with a MAYDAY call. A 14′ aluminum boat had overturned leaving one person in the water approximately 0.5 nm off the shores of Jordan River in large seas.
